A headache
is pain which almost everyone has to experience at least once in their
lifetime. Whatever the cause- too much alcohol, too much looking at screens,
sleep deprivation, stress and many more- the unpleasant feeling in your cranium
threatens the ability to be active for the rest of the day. What do you should
do to get out of this mess if there is no magical headache pill to be found? We
have collected some of the best remedies to drive you out of the headache.
Natural remedies
Drink a lot of water
Dehydration
can often lead to headaches because the lack of water reduces the flow of blood
and oxygen to the brain. So whenever you feel a headache coming on, try drinking
water- a lot of cool water. Do not count on cold water because it will give you
even more of a headache. Drinking peppermint tea may also help, but be careful
with using caffeine to fight headaches because you might just make it worse.
Use lavender oil
The relaxing
properties of lavender oil can be very effective in the treatment of headaches.
Take a bowl of hot water and then add a few drops of lavender oil. Place your
head towards the surface of the mixture and put a towel over your head. Inhale
the lavender-infused vapors deeply. You can apply a few drops of the lavender
oil into your temples and do massage for one to two minutes while inhaling
deeply.
Use rosemary
Try massaging
your head with a little anti-inflammatory rosemary oil to instantly relieve the
pain. You can also drink an herbal tea from the combination of rosemary and
sage to alleviate headaches. Add a teaspoon of crushed rosemary leaves and a
teaspoon of crushed sage leaves to a cup of boiling water to make tea and drink
the tea 2-3 times a day.
Use cloves
Cloves can
be used to ease the pain of tension headaches. Gently crush some cloves into
small pieces and put these pieces into a sachet bag. Inhale the scent to gain
relief. Another way is to mix clove oil with sea salt and do massage onto the
forehead and temples.
Use basil oil
Basil oil is
a highly effective strong-scented herb in headache treatment. Basil works as a
muscle relaxant, so it is helpful in relieve headaches caused by tension and
tight muscles. You can make basil tea by putting some fresh, cleaned basil
leaves into a cup of boiling water for a few minutes before drinking. Sip the
tea slowly and see the headache gone. You can also chew some fresh basil leaves
or massage your head with pure basil oil.
Use cinnamon
Cinnamon
gives a chance to those suffering from headaches, especially those striking in
the combination with the common cold to ease the pain. An easy way to use
cinnamon is to make a paste from freshly grated cinnamon and a little water and
then apply the paste on the forehead for 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, you can
make a drink of 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder and one cup of hot milk. Add a
teaspoon of honey if desired.

putting it on your forehead or temples or the back of your neck. The cooling
effect of the ice pack may help to relax muscle and alleviate pain.
Have a relaxing bath or shower
A hot bath scented with soothing essential oils can also work;
even a quick shower can wash away the stresses of the day.
Take a nap
Force yourself to take a nap and the headache might
miraculously be warded off by the time you wake up. Find a quiet room, lie down
on bed, close your eyes, clear your mind and focus on breathing and try to fall
into a peaceful sleep.
